Fiber Optic PLC Splitter Applications

2025-07-31

The Fiber Optic PLC Splitter (Planar Waveguide Fiber Splitter) is a quartz-based integrated waveguide optical power distribution device primarily used for splitting and converging optical signals in optical communication networks. Its primary applications are as follows:

Passive Optical Network (PON) Applications
  • In passive optical networks such as EPON and GPON, it connects the central office (CEN) and terminal equipment, distributing power for downstream optical signals (1490nm and 1550nm) and combining upstream optical signals (1310nm).
  • It supports 1*N and 2*N splitting types, with up to 64 splits, meeting the needs of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and optical distribution systems.
Optical Signal Distribution and Aggregation

As a core passive component in optical fiber links, it evenly distributes input optical signals from a single or multiple optical fibers to multiple output channels, or conversely combines multiple signals into a single or dual optical fiber.

It offers excellent optical splitting uniformity and is insensitive to optical signals within the 1260-1650nm wavelength range, making it suitable for full-band transmission.

Suitable for various installation scenarios

Offering bare fiber, micro, and box-type packages, it is suitable for various installation environments, including rack-mount and plug-in installations.

High stability and reliability

Manufactured using semiconductor technology, the optical waveguide array features high-temperature resistance (-40°C to 85°C) and electromagnetic interference resistance, making it suitable for use in harsh environments.

With its low insertion loss and compact size, this device is an ideal choice for modern high-speed communication networks, such as FTTx.
